Telescope service 8″ Boren simon power newtonian, Skywatcher NEQ6 pro mount,Atik 383L+ camera, motorised filter wheel and Astronomik filters.

Emission nebula and open star cluster in the constellation cassiopeia.

I only planned to image the emission nebula NGC896 but Melotte 15 was just on the edge of the camera chip. So decided to image both objects for a more interesting image.

Lots of faint hydrogen gas surrounds the open cluster melotte 15. This is part of the heart nebula ic 1805.

Moved to losmandy dovetails this month with my newtonian so I can do longer exposures. Mounted a second losmandy dovetail on top of the tube rings to keep the optical tube as rigid as possible on the my mount.

The vixen dovetail was causing occasional loss of autoguiding and eddy stars with 10 minute exposures. It’s too flimsy to handle my heavy camera.

Imaged on three nights. 1st, 2nd and 3rd of August.

Ha/oiii/oiii image with 7 hours and 20 minutes of data. 23 x 10min & 21 x 10min oiii unbinned.
