The Great Christmas Comet, the Emu, and a pair of meteors

Weather in Brisbane had been atrocious in the lead-up to Christmas, but finally the clouds swept away to reveal Comet Lovejoy (C/2011 W3). Taken from the foreshore at Cleveland Point, the comet emerged from the Boxing Day dawn sky superimposed on the “Emu” below Crucis and the Pointers. The image was capped off in my view by a pair of meteors. What a beautiful Christmas present.
