Bluedot 2022 lineup announced

The music and science lineup has been announced for this year's Bluedot festival at Jodrell Bank Observatory.

The science speakers and music acts have been announced for the 2022 bluedot festival.

The annual music and science event is held over the course of a weekend every summer at Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire.

In 2020 and 2021, restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic led organisers to move bluedot festival online, but it has now been confirmed that the 2022 event will be going ahead as planned.

Bluedot 2022 will be held at Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire between 21–24 July 2022.

This year's science speakers include particle physicist and science presenter Professor Jim Al-Khalili, British historian and filmmaker David Olusoga, space scientist Monica Grady and The Sky at Night co-presenter Professor Chris Lintott.

Also included in this year's science lineup are physicist Jess Wade, geoscientist Chris Jackson, the Met Office’s Richard Betts, immunologist Sheena Cruickshank, psychologist Gilly Forrester, planetary scientist and space rocks expert Sarah Crowther, and broadcaster Jon Savage.

Meanwhile, bluedot's 2022 music acts lineup includes Björk, Groove Armada and Mogwai, all of whom will be headlining the festival over the three nights.

Comedy at the 2022 festival will include standup Stewart Lee, podcaster and writer Adam Buxton, Robin Ince, Desiree Burch, Olga Koch (who starred in This Time with Alan Partridge).

Also included are Shrill Lolly Adefope, Rob Rouse and Ahir Shah.

Festival director Ben Robinson says: “After two years away we are thrilled to be able to return with such a unique and diverse line up to the iconic Jodrell Bank for the fifth instalment of bluedot.

"We can’t wait for people to join us beneath the Lovell Telescope in July to experience four days of cosmic adventures which will close with a very special orchestral performance from Björk and The Hallé.”
