The Strawberry Moon of June 2025 has been one of the most talked about celestial events of the year so far.
It's certainly been the biggest astronomical story of 2025, since the planet parade of January and February.

The Strawberry Moon was the lowest full Moon of the year, meaning it has been quite a challenge for those of us on more northerly latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere to see it.
But this photographer managed to captured an image of the 2025 Strawberry Moon from the Southern Hemisphere, and quite a unique part of the Southern Hemisphere at that.

Taran Sohal is a photographer based in Australia who describes himself as having "a deep passion for capturing the cosmos from Earth’s most poetic vantage points."
He captured a beautiful image of the Strawberry Moon rising behind Byron Bay Lighthouse on the most easterly tip of Australia's coastline.
The fact that it looks so enormous is a great example of a well-known phenomenon called the Moon illusion.
Sohal says the image was "timed to perfection after a 2.5-hour drive and meticulous planning.
"This shot is a single exposure with no composites, captured in golden hour light to preserve both natural tones and lunar detail.
"The moment felt like Earth and sky aligning in harmony: an expression of how celestial events can paint even familiar landscapes with a sense of awe.
"I believe it will resonate with anyone who, like myself, finds meaning and magic in moments like these."
