Tonight, Tuesday 9 June 2026, Venus and Jupiter will be close together in the evening sky after sunset.
The two planets have been sharing the same patch of evening sky for weeks now, but they've been getting closer and closer to one another with each passing night.
This evening is the best time to see them, because tonight's the night when Venus and Jupiter will be at their closest together.
After tonight, the two planets will begin drifting apart again.
If you're able to and the weather plays ball, head out and look to the west after sunset and you'll see two bright 'stars' in the early evening sky. Those 'stars' are actually Venus and Jupiter.
But if you can't get outside or are facing cloudy weather, the professional astronomers at the Virtual Telescope project have announced they will be filming and live-streaming the conjunction for the whole world to see.
