BBC Two's hugely popular programme, Stargazing Live, is back in 2013 and to mark its return the BBC and its partners are hosting a number of events designed to encourage everyone – from complete beginners to enthusiastic amateurs – to make the most of the night sky.

The free, ticketed events will take place from 8 January, bringing together astronomical societies, museums and discovery centres, country parks and local authorities.

These exciting events include planetarium shows, rocket making, astrophotography, the chance to view the stars via telescopes, as well as topical talks and discussions contributing to a national stargazing celebration.
