Strange light in the sky

Can anybody explain this strange light i saw in the sky? when i 1st noticed it it was egg shaped then over the space of 15 mins it grew longer and slowly faded,iam sure it wasn’t caused by a light from the ground because you normally see a beam of light as well,anybody got any ideas??
