The Double Cluster in Perseus

Modified Canon EOS 1000d with an Astronomik CLS CCD filter through a William Optics ZS70 equipped with a Flattener III. The mount was an HEQ5 Pro running with EQMOD and guided using a 100mm guide scope and a QHY5v guide camera with PHD guiding.

The image was taken on 11 Oct 2010 and is made up of 17 x 3 minute sub-exposures. The subs were acquired using Nebulosity 2, then stacked and processed with Pixinsight 1.6. I’m particularly pleased with the colour of the stars in this image. I think that the processing software has also done a pretty good job of removing gradients and noise from the background.
