First image run with my new 8″ Boren Simon power newtonian optical tube. Looking to improve my wide field imaging.

Starting with a familar nebula I’ve imaged before. South in the sky where objects move quickly so a good test of tracking and autoquiding.

Fast optics at F2.8. This will keep exposure times down to 5 miutes and produce high resolution images with no binning.

F2.8 useful for the uk’s cloudy conditions where imaging time is limited.

Using an Orion 50mm mini guidescope for autoguiding.

This new tube shows potential, I’ll have another go in May, when the constellation Cygnus is well placed for imaging.

HA/OIII/OIII image with 3 hours and 30 minutes of data. 20 x 5min Ha & 22 x 5min Oiii.
