Teleskop service 12″ Richey-Chretien telescope, Skywatcher EQ8 mount,Atik 383L+ camera, Astronomik LRGB filters,
Hutech IDAS light pollution filter, Astro physics 0.67 reducer.

Known as the fireworks galaxy for the large amount of star formation. The red areas in my image.

IDAS light pollution filter worked a treat and there were no gradients to remove in software post processing.

I’ve found software gradient tools struggle with faint galaxy spiral arms.

Dodgy weather and short nights this month so could only collect four hours of data. Just enough data for a decent image.

Data collected on two nights. 21st & 24th May.

LRGB image with 4 hours and 37 minutes of data. 19 x Lum 6 x Red 6 x Green 6 x Blue 7.5 minute exposures.
