Southern Highland Area – Tycho & Clavius Region

Ralph Smyth

Lisburn, County Antrim

Celestron C8 SCT on an HEQ5PRO mount. Imaged with a ZWO 120 camera fitted with a Baader longpass filter.

Imaged on the evening of the 17.02.16. The almost 77% illuminated moon was presenting beautifully. This image shows one of my favourite lunar areas, Southern Highlands, which harbours two of my favourite craters Tycho and Clavius, nicely highlighted by the rising sun. Bitterly cold out with a lot of frost and ice but I couldn’t resist!
